Life

August 24, 2010 - 1:29 am

Wow. It’s been over 6 months since my last post. It’s been a tumultuous period for me (getting off medication, moving, etc..). I’m trying to get used to my new surroundings and of course get a job haha. I can’t make any guarantees, but hopefully I’ll start recording again soon.

Breakthrough! A new plan of action for drum tracks

February 5, 2010 - 1:31 am

I just had a breakthrough a few days ago ha ha. From now on, I’m going to create all the drum tracks for the albums first and record them on the recorder before I do anything else. This plan will most likely involve me having to buy 1 or 2 new sd cards. It’s no secret that the drums are an absolute nuisance for me. I hate programming drums with a passion, but I have to get these albums finished faster. It’s time for me to attack the recording process with more organization and consistency. I will focus on one solo project at a time and once I finish, then I’ll move on… This will also mean that I’ll have to record rough versions of new songs in order to guide in the programming of the drums. Also, I deleted all the old pre-rerecorded songs from the soundclick site. I’m sick of people hearing the shitty sounding unprofessional songs. It’s quite annoying to have to start over on anything. I absolutely hate having to redo songs, but my legacy depends on it, so I’ll do it.

DAEMONIC SHADOW-Work will begin on Destroying Human Culture very soon. Most of the material is already written. The ultimate goal is to create the best black/death album since Dissection’s masterpiece Storm of the Light’s Bane. I need to get the logo figured out too. It’s time for DAEMONIC SHADOW to rise up.

JEZEHELL/SPELLGHAST/OMINOUS GRIM/GOD FORSAKEN WHORE-Ominous has just informed me that he will be ready to start recording once again this spring. So expect to hear some new songs from these projects…

I'm still alive

January 3, 2010 - 1:37 am

Greetings and Happy New Year. I plan to end this period of dormancy very soon… So yes, I’m still alive ha ha. After finishing the OBLIVION WINTERS album The Lake of Widows’ Tears, I fell into inactivity. This was due to equal parts of relief and disgust. I was very relieved to finally finish the album, but I was hoping the record label I was seeking would release it (instead of dropping off the face of the earth). Just my luck… Oh well. Truth be told, I don’t give much of a shit. I just want to keep recording albums, living in my head, and writing news that nobody ever reads.

Apparently the Lunar Revolution Radio player has completely shit out on me ha ha. The site fileden.com is to blame for this one for deleting all of the uploaded songs despite my monthly log-ins.

Bound and Determined

OBLIVION WINTERS-I’m still awaiting a response from the record label. One way or another, the album will be released (even if I have to release it myself).

The Lake of Widow' Tears, DONE!

September 1, 2009 - 9:44 pm

OBLIVION WINTERS-The album The Lake of Widows’ Tears is all finished! I’m in the process of finding a small label to release it. The plan afterword is to start composing for the next album called Downpour. I have decided to hold off on the album Winters in Oblivion, which is a combination of the Somber Nightfall (old songs) and Star-Crossed (new songs) EP’s. I may end up rerecording the Somber Nightfall songs simultaneously with Downpour. Not sure yet…. We’ll see.

JEZEHELL-Work will begin soon (how soon, not sure exactly) on the debut album. Ominous has about 2 or 3 songs ready and I have 1 ready. Lyrics are yet to be written, however…

Creeping towards completion

July 17, 2009 - 9:46 pm

OBLIVION WINTERS-Work will begin shortly on the instrumental tracks which will conclude the album The Lake of Widows’ Tears. I will be shooting for recording at least 1 instrumental per week until finished. It disgusts me that it’s already July and I’m not finished with TLOWT yet.

Incurable Procrastination

July 12, 2009 - 9:48 pm

From now on, I’ll do my best to update the news section at least once a month, so my Lunartics (or Stormites…or Winterheads…. or Spellghastlies… or Jezedeads… or God Forsaken Whoremongers.. or The Shadow People) won’t go starving too long. The truth is….. I’ve been on a bit of a slump and haven’t been very active musically. I have written some new riffs, but haven’t started recording anything new lately. I’m hoping that’ll change very shortly. My procrastination is incurable unfortunately.

OBLIVION WINTERS-I have decided to not record another song for the album The Lake of Widows’ Tears. I have instead opted to go on and record the final instrumentals and call it a day for the album. I was too unsure about the riffs and I wanted no part in patching together a bunch of keyboard parts and “ouilla!” a shitty song. Furthermore, I realized that the album already clocks in at a decent length of time. I gave myself today as a deadline to decide, and I have. I am absolutely chomping at the bit to start on new albums!

JEZEHELL-The music for the first song is very close to being written (and rocks I must say ha ha). I’m going to check with Ominous next time I talk to him and see what he has written for the project, and try to get a grasp on what we want to do lyrically. I’m very excited to be finally starting something new. I love OBLIVION WINTERS, but the recording of TLOWT is killing me.

DAEMONIC SHADOW-I plan on re-recording the 6 songs from the early recordings, packaging them together with about 5 or so new songs, and naming the album Destroying Human Culture. I will more than likely start off the recording session with a new song. I’ll keep you posted…

The Wheels of Creativity

May 30, 2009 - 8:31 pm

I apologize for my lengthy absence. All my Lunartics must be having a fit ha ha. My Lunar Stormites will be pleased to know that I plan on diving headlong into the next OBLIVION WINTERS song “Requiem” in a few days. It’s hard to describe how the wheels of creativity turn. I have no control. I either feel like recording (and I record), or I don’t feel like recording (and I procrastinate like a loser ha ha). I get disgusted at myself for my periods of dormancy, but can’t help but wonder about the negative impact on quality if I rush the process. It’s not like I get a chance to record music full-time. I have a job, and I’m sure that contributes to my inactivity problems. I would love to just move to the Pacific Northwest, relax in the rain, and create create create. It would be the perfect environment for me to reach my artistic and creative potential. Unfortunately, I’m not the most prolific songwriter in the world. I’m very satisfied with the results, but it’s the waiting time in between that irks me…. I’m going to focus hard on finishing The Lake of Widows’ Tears before the end of June. Deadlines have never worked on me in regards to my music though. I won’t call it a deadline, but rather, an urging wish. Maybe I should go to a wishing well and close my eyes and say “please finish the Oblivion Winters album before the dreaded month of July”. I can’t wait to start recording some new projects. It’s exciting and necessary. Expect to hear some fresh new material in the near future.

Vegas Vacation and Daemonic Changes

April 24, 2009 - 8:43 pm

OBLIVION WINTERS-I still have yet to do the drums for the new song. I have a vacation coming up and I’ll be off work for 6 straight days. Hopefully I get most of them done before I go to Las Vegas on the 29th.

DAEMONIC SHADOW-I have decided to combine Scythebearer (EP) and Destroying Human Culture (which was the planned new album) into one full-length album. So I’ll be re-recording all the 7 songs that have so far been done for DS. It should make for an interesting album. I’m not sure what the title of the full-length will be. Probably either The Pale Harvester or Destroying Human Culture. I’m leaning toward The Pale Harvester at the moment. I haven’t decided whether to break the album up into 2 sections or to mix the songs together. I’m leaning toward just mixing them because the old and new songs are so different that it’ll sound like they don’t belong on the same album if they are broken up like that.

Twilycan and Obvlivion Winter quick update

March 17, 2009 - 8:34 pm

SOUNDTRACK TO A NIGHTMARE is now known as TWILYCAN. The title of the debut album will be Soundtrack to a Nightmare and will be deemed “horror metal”.

OBLIVION WINTERS-Work will begin shortly on the final song on the album The Lake of Widows’ Tears called “Requiem”. It will have no guitars. Just piecing the riffs together at the moment. I can’t imagine this being a long track. It’ll probably be around 3 minutes. Organ and growling should be a cool combination…
