Interminable Tapping

November 21, 2008 - 9:04 pm

OBLIVION WINTERS-The drums are finally finished for the new song “The Lake”. Now all I have to do is go through a quick play-through to test the tempos. The fact that I hate programming drums probably contributes to the straightforward and simple style. Every time I do drums, I’m guaranteed to spend at least 2 hours tapping and tapping on pads. Needless to say, I try to get finished as soon as I possibly can. As long as the timing and tempos are correct, I really don’t care. I never claimed to be a drummer. I don’t add many fills. I just don’t have that kind of percussive vision I guess… Hopefully I’ll be able to get the guitars done before Farcegiving. The plan is still to finish the album The Lake of Widows’ Tears before 2009. Once it is complete, I’m going to figure out the best way to release the album. I’ll probably contact Gelid Glacier Records, which released OMINOUS GRIM-Gaze into the Mirror Dark. If not, I may just release it myself somehow. I’ll figure something out. One way or another, it’s going to be released to the public.

SPELLGHAST-I have about 1/3 of the music for a song written so far. It’s quite dark ha ha.

The Latest

November 17, 2008 - 9:12 pm

OBLIVION WINTERS-The (latest) plan is…… to do the drums tomorrow. Hopefully I’ll get this thing going here. If so, I’ll try to do the guitars before the bogus farce of a holiday known as Thanksgiving.

Damn I’m such a fucking procrastinator. This is ridiculous. I still haven’t done the drums for the new OBLIVION WINTERS song.

"The Lake" Cometh

November 3, 2008 - 9:14 pm

OBLIVION WINTERS-I’m very close (and I mean it this time ha ha) to beginning the recording process for the song “The Lake”. Everything is coming together and I think this should be one of the better songs on the album. Hopefully you’ll find out soon…

I am the Dark

October 27, 2008 - 9:17 pm

OBLIVION WINTERS- Damn I’m pathetic ha ha. Still havn’t finished the drums. I tried putting a deadline on myself…. to no avail. I guess when I feel like it I’ll do it. It’s starting to piss me off. But it’s not like I have nothing else to do. No excuses though. I need to get it done. Maybe tomorrow???

I just wrote some new lyrics. The song will probably be entitled “I am the Dark”. Not sure what project it will be used for yet.

Back to Life

October 19, 2008 - 9:19 pm

OBLIVION WINTERS-I still haven’t finished the drums for the song “The Lake”. I plan on doing them during my next days off. I have 3 days off in a row this week and no distractions, so I better get it done ha ha. I still plan on finishing the album before 2009 creeps around… It’s tough to get things back together when something traumatic happens. Hopefully I come back to life soon.

Recovering and Planning

August 22, 2008 - 9:20 pm

After a long break, I’m back in the swing of things. A lot has happened lately and it’s been tough to work on my music. Hopefully I can finish 2008 on a strong note.

OBLIVION WINTERS-The new song “The Lake” is all but put together at this point. Now I just need to get to work on the drum and get this thing underway. The plan is to finish The Lake of Widows’ Tears before the end of 2008. 2 more songs are left, along with a few instrumental tracks. There’s no reason the album shouldn’t be finished very soon…

Remix, Tweak, DONE!

April 22, 2008 - 9:25 pm

OBLIVION WINTERS-“A Widow’s Walk through the Forest” is all finished and on the soundclick and myspace sites. I had to remix a few things, adjust the volume, and tweak the editing. In the end, I’m very happy with the final product. Next, I will do the drums for “The Lake”. I’m hoping to have that song finished sometime in May. If I can get it done sooner, great. The fact of the matter is that I still need to piece it together. I have an excellent idea of what I’m going to put on the song, but there are still a few details that I need to attend to before I start with the drums. I’m happy to say that The Lake of Widows’ Tears album is getting close to being finished. Only 2 songs, 1 short theme piece, and a few short instrumentals are left to record. Once finished, this album shall become my crowning achievement thus far… then I’ll go back to work of course…

45% brutal & technical death, 45% old school swedish death, and 10% black & black death

April 15, 2008 - 9:26 pm

OBLVION WINTERS-It’s taking longer than expected to finish the new song. I had it done (or so I thought) and then I became very unhappy with the result. I waited and received a second opinion from Ominous on the mix and he thought that the vocals were too loud on some spots but that the overall mix was decent. The editing was definitely unacceptable and amateurish. My plan is to remix the vocals and completely redo the editing. A few years ago I would’ve let this sort of thing slide, but not now. Although I’ve never made a cent off my music (and have no desire to), I want it to be professional sounding.

JEZEHELL-The music for almost 3 complete songs is already written. Ominous is writing at a usual ultra-prolific clip. It’s going to be very challenging to make this project sound the way it should. The vocals will be vital. At the same time, the music must be original too. I have no desire to do a “Spellghast with all clean vocals” project. As some of you may know, with me, either a project is original or it’s dead. The material is turning out heavier than I expected, which worries me a little. I want jez to be at least half goth rock and half goth metal. Being metallers to the core, it’s tough for us to not make something not metal.

GOD FORSAKEN WHORE-We have decided to take the project in more of a brutal and technical death metal direction. It will still have some black parts thrown in, but few and far between. It’s time to challenge ourselves and do something different. Honestly, it’s unnatural for me to create death metal riffs. I’m a very melodic songwriter and to abandon melody is difficult. I’m confident we can pull it off. Expect GFW to have a recipe of 45% brutal & technical death/45% old school swedish death/10% black & black death.
